In Memoriam
1940-2010
Sanford Gross was a founding partner of Gross & Gross. Sandy graduated first in his class from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1966. A member of the Order of the Coif, he practiced as a government attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor and National Labor Relations Board after four years as an associate attorney with Metzenbaum, Gaines, Schwartz, Krupansky, Finley & Stern. He opened his own practice in 1972, acquiring extensive civil private-practice experience, with an emphasis on labor and employment law, corporate defense, environmental defense and ERISA. He negotiated the first labor agreement between the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections and Teamsters Local Union No. 415, and was called in as special counsel by Middleburg Heights and three other eastern suburban communities to settle a five-week-old strike by waste haulers. Away from the law office, Sandy was an official photographer for The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Cleveland Zoological Society, and was a regular, part-time police officer for the City of Kirtland for 20 years.
